Hope, Healing, and Freedom: Shannon Nelson’s Journey to Overcome Breast Cancer

At the H-Town Dream Center, we believe in the power of hope, healing, and freedom—words that are central to the work we do and to the story of our very own CEO and Founder, Shannon Nelson. This October, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are honored to celebrate Shannon’s incredible journey as a 17-year breast cancer survivor.

Seventeen years ago, Shannon received news that no one is ever prepared to hear—a diagnosis of stage 4 breast cancer, with doctors giving her only three months to live. It was a moment that could have shattered her, but Shannon found comfort in knowing that while this was man’s diagnosis, God had the final say. Through unwavering faith, prayer, and trust in God’s plan, Shannon fought her battle with courage and resilience, relying on her belief that God is a healer.

Fast forward to today, and Shannon’s life is a living testament to the power of faith, prayer, and God’s grace. Not only is she a breast cancer survivor, but she is a thriving business owner, registered nurse, pastor, wife, mother, and grandmother = "Mi Mi". As the co-owner of a successful pool business and the visionary behind the H-Town Dream Center, Shannon’s life is dedicated to bringing hope and healing to others. The Dream Center, which she co-founded with her husband, is a beacon of light for vulnerable individuals and families in Montgomery County and The Greater Houston Area, providing essential services, mentorship, and community support.

Shannon’s journey of survival and success reminds us that freedom from fear and despair is possible, even when facing life’s greatest challenges. Her story is one of resilience, faith, and the healing power of God’s love.

As we continue to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we reflect on the many women and men who are fighting their own battles with cancer. We stand with you, believing in the power of hope, healing, and freedom. Let Shannon’s story be a source of inspiration to anyone facing difficult times—there is always hope, and God is always working behind the scenes.

We are deeply grateful for Shannon’s leadership and for the extraordinary example she sets for us all. Her life is a beautiful reflection of God’s ability to turn trials into triumphs, and we are proud to stand beside her as she continues to serve our community with passion and love.
