Blog Post: H-Town Dream Center's Hurricane Beryl Disaster Relief Efforts

Bringing Hope, Healing, and Freedom to Our Community

In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, the H-Town Dream Center has been tirelessly working to provide essential relief to our community. Under the leadership of Shawn and Shannon Nelson, and with the support of our incredible partners, we have been able to make a significant impact.

Since the disaster struck, we have distributed:

  • 16,752 Bottles of Water
  • 137 Bags of Ice
  • 1,305 Food Boxes
  • 136 Diapers
  • 115 Showers
  • 251 Hot Meals
  • 184 Items of Clothing
  • 285 Cleaning Supplies

We have served a total of 6,332 individuals and 1,289 households. This has only been possible with the generous support of our partners: The Hart Family, Montgomery County Food Bank, Lakewood Church Warehouse (Victoria and Joel Osteen), Entergy Texas, Units Storage, and Italianos. Their contributions have been invaluable in providing the resources needed to help our community recover.

Our Response and Efforts

As soon as Hurricane Beryl hit, we activated our emergency relief plan. This plan, which we've invested significant time, money, and heart into, is designed to quickly mobilize our local partners, volunteers, and staff to provide immediate assistance to those in need. Our community center was transformed into an emergency shelter, providing AC, water, food, comfort, Wi-Fi, and hope to displaced families.

Our game room and coffee shop have become havens for families, offering a warm place to gather and enjoy meals together. This is the essence of our mission—to give hope, healing, and freedom to the most vulnerable.

Call to Action

While we have made significant strides, the need is still great. We are launching a fundraising campaign to raise $25,000 to support our ongoing disaster relief efforts. Your generous donations will go directly towards purchasing essential supplies, expanding our shelter capacity, and supporting our community through this crisis.

We are also in need of more partners to assist with resources like water, ice, and food. Our large property and warehouse are available for use as a staging site for the distribution of resources. If you are interested in partnering with us, please reach out.
